How are monitors accredited and what are the expected requirements?
Eligible applicants, who include small businesses and non-governmental organizations, may submit an application for accreditation to the FLA Accredited monitors must meet specified standards regarding their capability and independence. These monitors must abide by clear evaluation guidelines and criteria; verify internal monitoring; have independent access to and conduct independent audits of employee records; conduct unannounced visits and audits; develop relationships with local labor, human rights or religious organizations; conduct confidential employee interviews; and submit an evaluation report to the company and the FLA.
