How are jobs handled by R.E.D. Server?
The TORQUE resource manager (version 2.2.1) and Maui scheduler (version 3.2.6p19) are used to handle jobs on R.E.D. Server. A maximum of three simultaneous jobs per account is allowed on R.E.D. Server (private and public accounts). Other jobs are automatically sent to the R.E.D. Server queuing system. These simple rules insure that every R.E.D. Server user gets an equal access to the computational resources provided by R.E.D. Server. This also means that the public account of R.E.D. Server can be quickly saturated if different researchers simultaneously use this account. More generally, the queuing system of R.E.D. Server will be adapted if it gets saturated.
