How are JDC programs funded?
JDC’s programs are supported primarily by donations to the Jewish community federations throughout the United States in partnership with the United Jewish Communities. JDC receives substantial support from U.S.-based private foundations and donors, including the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ); from Canada’s Jewish federations; from the United Kingdom’s World Jewish Relief; and from other overseas foundations and donors. JDC also receives significant funding from restitution sources—principally, the Conference on Material Claims against Germany and the Swiss Banks Settlements—to care for impoverished Nazi victims located mostly in the FSU. The well-being of destitute Jewish children in the FSU is secured through the IFCJ-JDC Partnership for Children in the FSU.
