How are Ivy League schools different than public Universities academia-wise?
Academically speaking, there are many similarities and differences between the eight Ivy League colleges and public universities but I’m tired. My answer would change depending upon whether we’re talking about graduate/undergraduate studies. But here goes nothing. One difference, for instance, would be speaking to the curriculum and rigor. This could take all day. The graduate programs at nearly all Ivy’s are top notch in their respective fields. Many public AND private universities will have a hard time to compete when considering the incentives for top professors/researchers to work in the Ivy League (reputation, pay, research, resources, quali… of program/students to name a few). Generally, your top 50 colleges or so in the U.S. News report can match the standards set by the top ten in one way or another. Beneath that and you’re probably wasting time and money. On the other hand, one similarity would be that in this day and age, teaching is losing ground to researching and publishing. I
