At MGS we are conscious of the need to try to strike the right balance between giving students sufficient time to revise for internal exams and dragging out the process so that they become overly stressed and anxious. The dates of the internal exams for Years 9-11 are published at the start of each academic year (see: Year 9 Exam Dates / Year 10 Exam Dates / Year 11 Exam Dates). For internal examinations we aim for a lead in time of approximately 3-4 weeks. An examination timetable is drawn up and made available to students / parents 3-4 weeks before the exams. This gives details of when the exams will take place in each subject during the exam week and how long each exam will last. Internal exams usually take place in lesson time and papers last up to a maximum of one hour in Years 9 and 10, sometimes longer in the Year 11 trial exams. Approximately 3 weeks before the exams, subject teachers give students details of the papers (e.g. length and format of paper) and the material / topic
