How are internal and external links being defined (dto, pdf, ppt or word documents for example)?

Internal content is stored in objects. As soon as you have saved your content as an object you can select it with the link picker tool in the graphical editor of a web page. Web pages are represented as Document objects, pdf and word are represented as file objects. External links have to be typed manually. They are then represented by a special icon in front of the link to mark that this is an external link.
