The selection procedure begins with the cumulative GPA. At Arcadia the minimum cumulative GPA requirement is a 3.5 on our 4.5 scale, with no courses at a D or F level. This requirement remains in effect throughout membership in NHS. Report cards are reviewed at both the five-week and quarterly time periods to ensure that the GPA requirement is maintained. Membership in NHS is a permanent condition, unless a students performance falls below the standards by which they have been selected. If a student has fallen below induction standards a meeting will occur with the student, NHS advisor, and an administrator. A timeline and action plan for improvement will be identified. If improvement is not seen after the agreed upon timeline has expired a student will be dismissed from membership. What else is looked at when students submit information forms for membership in NHS? There are four characteristics that are reviewed prior to selection into NHS. They are character, leadership, scholarship
