How are hearings or trials scheduled in Circuit Court criminal cases?
Trial dates are generally assigned to felony cases through the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and the defendant’s attorney at the end of each term. Defendants will be notified of their court date at Grand Jury/Term Day. Defendants on bond must show up to receive their court date on Grand Jury/Term Day. Trial dates for misdemeanor appeals from the General District Courts are given our next available Misdemeanor Appeal Day by the General District Court when it’s appealed. Fines and court costs are due when imposed unless the defendant enters into a payment plan agreement approved by the Court.
