How are grant recipients selected? When are recipients notified?
Grant applications are reviewed by National Board certified teachers convened across the country. Reviewers use a standardized assessment rubric to rate applications, and the top scoring applications are sent to a selection committee made up of education experts and National Board Certified Teachers. This committee selects a group of finalists, and Disney Learning Partnership staff members and expert consultants conduct telephone interviews and site visits to verify key aspects of finalists’ applications. 1999 grant awards were announced in November 1999, and funds were disbursed to schools beginning January 2000.
