How are good cause donations processed ?
To receive donations through Ecomodo a good cause will need to register with Ecomodo and have a Paypal account. Both are free to set-up. Here’s how it works .. • A Lender adds their item to lend and chooses to donate their proceeds to their nominated good cause. • A Borrower books their item. • Upon booking, we take the hire fees (plus our administration fee, transaction fees and any additional services chosen by the lender e.g. insurance cover) for the lend to secure the booking and ensure commitment from both parties. We process the Borrower’s full payment and keep the Lender’s earnings in escrow until the lend has finished. • The Borrower uses the item and returns it to the Lender. • Upon return, both parties leave feedback and confirm that they were happy with the lend. On behalf of the Lender we then pass the Lender’s hire fees to their nominated good cause via Paypal. • Registered UK charities can then claim gift aid on their donations.
