Gangs can form in a variety of ways. New gangs may usually form in the way as stated above with cliques trying to prove themselves or gain “street cred”. However, the older gangs (ie Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, etc.) were formed as social and community uplift groups and then take a drastic turn for the worst.
