How Are Galileo Thermometers Produced?
The production of a Galileo Thermometer is extremely complicated. Each ball is calibrated to within exactly .36 degree Fahrenheit. Any two-glass balls differ in weight by only 6/1000 of a gram. Each cylinder is made of solid glass construction with a wide glass base to present a low center of gravity that minimizes the chance of it tipping. Standard units have temperature marked in Fahrenheit and Celsius is available. All temperature weights are 24-Karat Gold Plated. The floating bulbs in each Galileo Thermometer are multicolored. The liquid inside the Galileo Thermometer is clear and contains paraffin and petroleum distillates that are found in many household products. In most Galileo thermometer’s the clear liquid is comprised of a dangerious substance and extreme care should be used when cleaning up a broken Galileo thermometer. Avoid skin contact and inhilation. The temperature spheres and thermometer bodies are individually hand blown by master craftsmen.
