They help control pests by eating them. So they provide a eco-friendly cheap and easy alternative to chemicals which can be expensive, time consuming and can fail after time. Also, they enrich the garden, frogs and hedgehogs are interesting to watch as they carry out their activities in the garden, and ladybirds add some colour as they climb plants in search of aphids etc. All this is a free bonus to a garden giving it more charactor.

Frogs and hedgehogs eat slugs. Ladybirds and their larvae eat greenfly. Lacewings and their larvae eat greenfly too. And they’re beautiful. I had about four hibernating in my house over winter.
