How are frogs and toads different?
Even though frogs and toads are both amphibians (meaning they can live in water and land) and physically appear to be alike there are indeed differences. Toads have stubby bodies with short hind legs, warty dry skin, poison (paratoid) glands behind their eyes, the cartilage in their chest is different from a frog’s, most toads lay eggs in long chains. There are some toads (general Nectophrynoides) that actually bear live young. Frogs, on the other hand, have two eyes that bulge, they have strong long hind feet that are webbed which has been adapted for leaping and swimming, a smooth and/or slimy skin, and frogs tend to lay their eggs in clusters.
