How are Frabels frosted/ made opaque?
The frosted or opaque look is an interesting illusion. The technique that the Frabel Studio utilizes to give the glass sculpture or parts of the sculpture an opaque or frosted look is by sandblasting the glass with small particles of aluminum. These particles make little indentation in the glass, which diffuses the light in different spectrums, which the human eye sees as white. Optical equipment will look straight through the frosted glass as if it were clear.
