How are forensics handled in Mountain View? Do we have a crime lab or a coroner?
These functions are handled by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. At death scenes, the coroner joins our officers to begin a death investigation, while the police department is responsible for investigating any associated crimes. MVPD personnel collect evidence, but evidence lab analyses are done by the Sheriff’s Office.
