How are filled molds inspected? What kind of defects can be identified?
Molds are inspected using the Mold Inspect Tool. The MIT is an Automated Optical Inspection tool and part of a C4NP line configuration. Missing or partial fills, overfills and bridges can readily be mapped. If defect densities are above a certain rework limit, molds are emptied of solder and refilled. Mold suppliers will publish their capabilities for mold inspection and mold QA.
