How are fibrous and globular proteins different?
Fibrous proteins are the basic structural materials of the body. Fibrous proteins are strandlike and they are important in binding structures together and for providing strength in some body tissues. Globular proteins are usually spherical molecules that play roles in nearly all biological processes. Some help to provide immunity and others help to regulate growth and development. How are DNA and RNA similar and different in terms of structure and function? DNA (deoxyribnucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) are both two major kinds of nucleic acid. DNA is the genetic material found within the cell nucleus. It replicates itself and provides the instructions for building every protein in the body. RNA is not located within the nucleus and it is considered to be the “molecular slave of DNA”. RNA carries out the orders for protein synthesis that is issued by DNA. Even though DNA and RNA are formed by the joining together of nucleotides, their final structures are very different.
