How are Fellows evaluated during training?
The practice of receiving and responding to feedback is critical to growing as a professional educator, and at Chicago Teaching Fellows, we value a culture of feedback to ensure that our teachers are as prepared as possible to raise student achievement in Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Just as you will hold your students to high standards, you will be held to high standards during pre-service training, and you will be expected to be a reflective practitioner in order to demonstrate your growth as a teacher. During summer training, Fellows are formally evaluated to assess their readiness for the classroom. These evaluations are based on observations of a Fellow’s practice teaching, demonstrated mastery of the curriculum and its principles, and fulfillment of program expectations. Fellows who successfully complete the summer training are eligible to be hired by CPS and continue in the certification program.
