How are FCAT scores used to ensure accountability for student learning?
FCAT scores are used to determine school grades. FCAT scores may also be used by school districts to determine merit pay for teachers and administrators. At least 60 percent of an employee’s overall evaluation must be based on student academic proficiency or learning gains. The remaining 40% is based on evaluations. FCAT scores determine whether a school is achieving adequate yearly progress under the Federal No Child Left Behind law.
