How are Families In Step services different from counseling/therapy?
This is not group therapy and, therefore, not designed for individuals or couples seeking mental health treatment. Rather, it is a coaching group designed to help step-family members share their experiences with other step-family members with the goal of achieving a higher quality of family life in a context often fraught with difficulties. Leaving one family, joining a new family, maintaining ties with the previous (but in many ways still in existence) family, and managing children in these two contexts are not simple tasks.
