How are excel column widths and heights measured? How do I convert to inches?
Excel widths and heights are measured in both characters and pixels. The pixel measurement is clear. Each dot on your screen is one pixel. One pixel in a document represents 1/72 of an inch, so changing the height of a row (or width of a column) to 72 pixels makes its height (or width) one inch. The character measurement is determined with the standard font. The standard column width of 8.43 means 8.43 characters fit into the standard column without wrapping around.
