HOW ARE EXAMS AND OTHER FORMS OF ASSESSMENT MARKED?
• All written work will normally be marked in accordance with the details in the appropriate Common Assessment Scale (see Assessment). The final examinations in all courses are marked anonymously. • At Levels 1 and 2, the course work in most cases counts for 40% of the student’s total assessment for a course. The degree examination counts for the remaining percentage. • At Level 3, a variety of methods of assessment is employed appropriate to the particular aims and objectives of each course. For further details students should consult the Course Catalogue and individual course descriptions. • In order to gain a pass in any course students must obtain a total mark of at least 9 and a degree examination mark of not less than 8. When a student fails to attain 8 in the degree examination, s/he will be awarded a final CAS mark of no more than 8. (In the case of the LTh, students must obtain an overall mark of at least 8 including a final examination mark of not less than 7.) • After all as
