How are European Harmonised standards to be used?

0

Compliance with a Harmonised Standard would give the concerned equipment product the benefit of a so-called “presumption of conformity” with the PPE Directive’s relevant EHSR (“Essential Health and Safety Requirements”, provided in Annex 2) which said standard would allow to test for.Since European Harmonised Standards are not always available for each product and each essential requirement, the manufacturer must take great care in verifying that his Personal Protective Equipment complies with all the applicable requirements of PPE Directive 89/686/EEC. The manufacturer must also comply with other relevant pieces of legislation, for instance on dangerous substances.Other technical specifications and means of documentation can be used to prove compliance as specified in Art. 8 and Annex 3.
