How are environmental issues reviewed?
As part of the FERC Pre-Filing Process, FERC is required under the National Environmental Policy Act to consider the concerns that the public may have about a project and to consider the environmental impacts that could result from the proposed facilities. During its Pre-Filing Process, FERC will issue a notice of intent to prepare either an environmental impact statement (EIS) or environmental assessment (EA) on the project and will begin a scoping period to seek comments on the potential environmental impacts of the project.
