How are emissions from an EfW plant monitored?
Plants have to employ a Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) – which constantly checks the level of emissions from the plant, to see that they comply with the strict regulations. It is a legal requirement that the CEMS operates at all times; if it is not working, then the plant is not allowed to operate. The results from the CEMS will be displayed on the contractor’s website, and will be available as a printed copy from the public register.
