A5: For certified employees (teachers, principals, etc.) the salary schedules are actually in the budget bill. The difference between steps is set by the legislature. For non-certified employees the difference between steps is approximately 1%. The non-certified salary schedules are prepared by the finance officer. They are based on the previous year’s schedules increased by the amount of increase approved by the legislature.
