How are CPRIT funding decisions made?

Applications for CPRIT awards will be assessed using an external peer review process conducted by SRPP committees. Once applications have been reviewed by the SRPP committees, the Scientific Review Council (SRC) or Prevention Review Council (PRC), as appropriate, will meet to develop a list of funding recommendations based upon input from the SRPP committees. In prioritizing the list of applications recommended for CPRIT funding, the SRC/PRC recommendations will take into account statutory considerations (see Tex. Health & Safety Code, §102.251.) The SRC/PRC list of funding recommendations will be submitted to the CPRIT Executive Director, who will create a list of funding recommendations that is substantially based on the SRC/PRC list. The applications on the Executive Director’s list will be issued Notice of Funding Recommendation (NFR) unless two-thirds of the Oversight Committee votes to reject the Executive Director’s proposed slate.
