How are consultant subscription rates calculated?

0

Consultant members’ subscriptions are calculated according to their specialty and income from that specialty. We also have a reduced rate for first year consultants with low private income. What is the main difference between the MDU and the MPS/MDDUS? The MDU provides most members with a professional indemnity insurance policy* to cover clinical negligence claims. This is a contractual agreement that will always provide assistance within the terms of the policy. We are the only UK medical defence organisation to do this. The MPS and MDDUS only provide cover on a discretionary basis. This means there is no contractual right to assistance. Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis and is at the absolute discretion of the Board of Management. The MDU believes discretionary cover alone is no longer sufficient. Would you feel comfortable waiting until you had a car accident before finding out if your insurance company would cover you? * Policy underwritten by SCOR Insurance (UK) L
