How are computers used in a Montessori class?

Computer work is part of our Elementary curriculum in the same way that microscopes and atlases are — they are integrated into the curriculum. Lower Elementary children often begin to learn to type in their first year. Later, students use the computer for word processing, composing letters, plays, and other works. Additionally, Upper Elementary children use the computers as a research tool.
