How are commercial and other non-residential rates figured?

0

These rates are structured on a formula that determines the impact by the user on the sewer system in comparison to a single-family residential user. The Sewer Service Charge takes into account both indoor water use and wastewater strength. Those that have higher flows or strength of sewage pay a higher charge. For example, the grease and food particles from a restaurant are harder to treat, and thus have a higher strength factor than the wastewater from a clothing store. The proposed Sewer Service Charge for these classes of customers would be proportional to the change in the Base Rate. The strength factors for specific types of commercial and other non-residential uses can be found in the Charges By Customer Class Document and at the District office.
