How are children placed in the STARRY Emergency Shelter?
Most children are referred to the STARRY Emergency Shelter by the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. Some children who need a temporary refuge from family conflict are referred by a parent or guardian. Often children referred by the state have been removed from their families because of abuse or neglect. The Shelter primarily serves Williamson County, but children may be placed from other counties, as space is available.
