How are chemical products that contain atrazine different?
The majority of the restrictions on the use of chemicals that contain atrazine are found on the label, including a requirement that operators cannot mix, load or apply atrazine within 20 m of any well, sink hole or intermittent or perennial stream or river regardless of the slope of the land. Note: Alternatives to this or any label restrictions of any chemical are not permitted, as label restrictions are set by the Australian Government through the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). Atrazine (and all other chemical) label restrictions must be read and followed at all times. In addition to the label restrictions, new State government provisions in the Chemical Usage (Agricultural and Veterinary) Control Regulation 1999 require sugarcane growers and cattle graziers to hold prescribed training qualifications and keep records on the use of any herbicide products that contain atrazine.
