Effective September 1, 2008, Nationwide Credit Corporation will provide collections on returned checks written to Food and Nutrition Services. Nationwide Credit Corporation is a contract vendor for Fairfax County. A $ 20 service charge will be assessed the check writer in addition to the face value of the unpaid check. The check writer will have the option to make payment over the phone or other payment arrangements can be made through Nationwide Credit Corporation. A sticker advising the customer that returned checks are sent to collections will be posted at each cash register.
