How are Changes Detected in Underlying Sources?
For databases, changes can be detected either by installing triggers on the database table(s) that changes need captured from or using a polling mechanism (the polling interval can be customized). For directories, changes can be detected either by using a change log (if one is provided and can be enabled on the directory) or using a polling mechanism (the polling interval can be customized).
