How are brass musical instruments made?

Hey, what can I say… I make French Horns. My shop is so small I have to do it in the same style of manufacturing as they did in 1790 or so. The 2 big differences are that I don’t make my own tubes… they use to wrap brass around a form and silver solder it… and I buy my bells to avoid buying a bell spinner. They use to fill the pipes with lead for bending, I use a hard tar. There are several good youtube videos on building horns and bells, mine is listed below. If you have any questions please email me. See “a horn is born” on youtube.
