How are bloody noses and diarrhea related?
There are several different causes for these 2 together. However, the first one that springs to mind is this: excess consumption of alcohol over a LONG period of time. Alcohol can also act as a diuretic, causing diarrhea. Why? Alcohol dilates the blood vessels and irritates the lower intestine as well as the stomach. So, a bloody nose might signify that the blood vessels in your head are dilated and irritated, resulting in bleeding. IF it goes on long enough, your liver constricts the portal vein, causing hypertension (high blood pressure), which then causes “varices” (varicose veins) in your throat and often, your nose. These can bleed and even hemorrhage, causing death, in extreme cases! If you drink a lot, you should be seen by a doctor immediately., And if you do NOT…you should still get checked out.
