How are blood chemistries performed?
Blood is collected, usually by drawing the blood through an easily accessible vein, into special tubes. These are sent to the laboratory where the blood is processed in analytic equipment and the results are recorded. How long does it take until the results are reported? In an emergency, the results can be known within minutes. As part of a routine test, the results may take hours or so to report.
