How are birthdays celebrated at school?

Per the FISD Student Handbook: In accordance with the Texas Department of Agriculture’s new Public School Nutrition Policy effective August 1, 2004, parents may only offer cupcakes or cookies to be distributed for student birthdays after the lunch period has ended. Homemade items cannot be brought into the classroom due to food safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements. All food items served to students must be prepared in a facility with a current health inspection and permit. Floral arrangements, balloons, cookie grams, etc., will be delivered at the end of the day in order to prevent interruptions in the instructional day. Deliveries of this nature are discouraged.
