Biological research includes research on any question related to a living organism. This is the broadest area as it includes research related to all plants and animals. Biomedical research is a focused on questions related to human health and disease. Biomedical research is often conducted on non-human animals and organisms which serve as model systems of the mechanisms and disease processes in humans. The differences between these model systems and humans should always be kept in mind.
