How are biofuels used?

0

Ethanol and FAME bio-diesel can be blended with gasoline or diesel respectively at various levels to produce a finished fuel. However, they are not ideal fuel components -their use is subject to blending limits or implementation issues around handling. In Europe technical considerations currently limit the use of bio-ethanol to 5% volume in conventional gasoline and 5% volume FAME (bio-diesel) in conventional diesel. In other markets, such as the US, ethanol can be used in conventional gasoline in blends of up to 10% volume.
