How are ballots available to military and overseas voters?
Washington will email, fax or mail a ballot to overseas and military voters. Washington has surveyed all of its 60,000 overseas and military voters to ask if the voter would like the ballot emailed, faxed or mailed. Our counties will honor the request of the voter. Washington will post an electronic ballot to a state or county website at least 45 days prior to the election that each voter can print and vote, and mail back. Washington is establishing a system so each overseas and military voter can determine when his or her ballot has been received by the county. Washington automatically mails a ballot to each voter unless the voter has requested an email or faxed ballot. In most states, military and overseas voters must specifically request for each election that a ballot be mailed.
