How are applications assessed under the skilled worker class?
Ans. Applications are assessed under 9 Factors (education, employment status in Quebec, experience, suitability, languages known, age, children, spouse characteristics and finance). In order to qualify the unmarried and the married applicant have to score 50 and 58 respectively without counting the points for suitability. Suitability carries 10 points and is assessed at personal interview, which is mandatory and is conducted in French.
Applications are assessed under 6 Factors (education, language experience, age, arranged employment, adaptability) totalling 100 points with each factor providing a maximum number of points. Successful applicants must receive a minimum of 75 points with at least one year of experience within the past 10 years in one of the occupations listed in either Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
