Monitoring and management of Antarctic marine resources are performed on an ecosystem-wide basis. This approach is unique to the region; regulation is generally conducted on a species-by-species basis. Antarctic krill resources are managed and regulated by the treaty-based organization CCAMLR (Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources).
