Algae need CO2 for their growth. For capturing CO2, algae are fed with industrial emissions after the removal of sulphur dioxide. Algae utilize the CO2 which are dissolved in the water (bicarbonates) as a source of carbon and grows. To grow 1 T of algae about 1.8 T of CO2 is required.
