How are ALANA Big Brothers and Sisters assigned?
ALANA Big Brothers and Sisters are assigned in addition to the student adviser assigned to each student to address the particular concerns of students from underrepresented groups. ALANA sibs are assigned to entering ALANA students by the Director of Unity House, the college multicultural center, as requested by incoming students who receive a mailing during the summer describing the program. If you had not requested an ALANA sib, but realize when you arrive that you would like one, contact the director of Unity House. As sophomore, junior, and senior students from underrepresented groups, ALANA big sibs can help entering freshmen from those groups have a smooth transition to the college.
