How are ALA events marketed?
ALA events are typically advertised and marketed on websites, in newsletters, through email and faxes, brochures, alerts, telephone calls, and personal invitations by executive directors and board members. Postcards advising hold the date are often mailed up to three to five months prior to the date (s) events occur. Postcard teasers are often mailed approximately 6 weeks before events occur, and reminders are sent periodically during the weeks prior to the event. Conference brochures are often finalized and distributed approximately 2 -3 months before the conference date. Many ALAs pre-sell conference sponsorships and include whats already been sold in the preliminary brochure mailing to entice new sponsors to sign up quickly since these opportunities are already being bought up. Some ALAs continue to mail thousands of paper brochures, while others are increasingly relying more on electronic brochures and reminders for marketing their events.
