How are adult stem cells different from embryonic stem cells?

0

Adult human stem cells are collected from the bone marrow (soft tissue found inside the bone structure) of normal healthy adult volunteers. Adult human MSCs are the type of cells used in PROCHYMAL. This is different from embryonic stem cells, which are collected from a fetus or embryo (unborn human or animal still in an early stage of development). The use of adult stem cells in research and therapy is not as controversial as embryonic stem cells because the collection of adult stem cells does not require the destruction of an embryo.
