Of the graduating seniors in the School of Social Ecology approximately 12 percent will be awarded academic honors (Latin Honors); 1 percent summa cum laude, 3 percent magna cum laude and 8 percent cum laude. Academic honors is determined and awarded based on a student’s cumulative GPA at the end of their final term at UCI. The School of Social Ecology calculates Honors eligibility based on historical data. The GPAs of students who received summa, magna and cum laude honors over the past three years have been averaged and those GPA averages used to determine the top 12% of the year’s graduating class. The following GPA cut-offs will be used for students graduating Summer 2008, Fall 2008, Winter 2009 and Spring 2009: Summa Cum Laude 3.946 – 4.000 Magna Cum Laude 3.818 – 3.946 Cum Laude 3.627 – 3.817 Academic honors for the upcoming year will be available in mid-August.
