How are A.R. tests given?
Accelerated Reader (AR) Program – The AR program combines the best children’s literature with software that tests comprehension. The software also manages students’ records and tracks reading performance. Students read books, and then take AR tests on the computer. Students then receive a print-out (if they pass), and they earn points. The program provides an instant score and immediate reinforcement in a way that motivates students to read. STAR Program- The STAR program is used to determine the appropriate reading level for each student. The program is an easy-to-use, computer-administered test that assesses reading levels. STAR adapts each test to the abilities of the individual student, speeding testing time and minimizing frustration. Students then check books out of the library based on their appropriate reading level.
